Montana Fly Fishing Lodge at dusk on East Rosebud Creek

The Flagship Lodge

All-inclusive fly fishing on the banks of East Rosebud Creek, a Wild and Scenic River. Family-owned since the 1940s in the heart of the Yellowstone River Basin.

The Flagship Property

Where the River Meets Home

Montana Fly Fishing Lodge sits on the banks of East Rosebud Creek — one of Montana's designated Wild and Scenic Rivers — in the shadow of the Beartooth Mountains. This is the Yellowstone River Basin at its most pristine: clear water, native trout, and miles of river with no one else in sight.

The lodge has been family-owned since the 1940s. What started as a small fishing camp has grown into one of Montana's most respected all-inclusive fly fishing destinations, without ever losing the character that made it worth building in the first place. Handcrafted log structures, home-cooked meals, and guides who've fished these waters for decades.

This is authentic Montana — not resort Montana. No corporate polish, no manufactured experiences. Just honest lodging, exceptional water, and the kind of hospitality that only comes from a family who's been doing this for three generations.

In 2024, Montana Fly Fishing Lodge was named an Orvis-Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year Finalist — a recognition earned not by size or spectacle, but by the quality of the experience and the consistency of the fishing.

Handcrafted Comfort

The lodge isn't a hotel — it's a home. Every structure on the property was built with local materials and designed to make the time between days on the water as memorable as the fishing itself.

Lodge Rooms

Private rooms in the main lodge with views of East Rosebud Creek. Each room is individually appointed with handcrafted log furniture, quality linens, and the quiet of a Montana night. Shared bathrooms keep the lodge's historic character intact.

Creekside Tents

Streamside glamping-style accommodations that put you steps from the water. Fall asleep to the sound of East Rosebud Creek. Comfortable beds, warm lighting, and the closest thing to sleeping on the river without a sleeping bag.

Common Spaces

The great room, dining hall, and outdoor fire pit are where the real stories happen. Share the day's fishing over evening cocktails, tie flies with your guide, or settle into a leather chair with a book and a pour of bourbon.
The Waters

Seven Rivers, One Lodge

From the legendary Yellowstone to intimate mountain creeks, the Flagship Lodge puts more quality trout water within reach than any lodge in the region.

Yellowstone River
Montana's legendary freestone river. Over 100 miles of unpressured water, world-class dry fly fishing, and the chance at trophy cutthroat and browns.
Cutthroat Brown Rainbow
Stillwater River
A stunning mountain freestone with pocket water, deep runs, and aggressive trout. Walk-wade paradise with solitude you won't find on bigger-name rivers.
Rainbow Brown Brook
Shoshone River
Wyoming's oldest dude-ranch river reborn as a fly fishing destination. Yellowstone-quality water with a fraction of the pressure.
Cutthroat Rainbow Brown
East Rosebud Creek
A designated Wild and Scenic River flowing right past the lodge. Walk out your door and fish crystal-clear water holding native trout.
Rainbow Brook
West Rosebud Creek
East Rosebud's quieter sibling. Small water, eager fish, and the kind of mountain scenery that makes you forget you're holding a fly rod.
Rainbow Brook
Rock Creek
Blue-ribbon trout stream with diverse water types. From tumbling pocket water to long, slow pools — technical fishing at its best.
Rainbow Brown Cutthroat
Bighorn River
One of America's premier tailwater fisheries. Consistent hatches, 20-inch averages, and year-round dry fly opportunities on a legendary river.
Brown Rainbow
Clark Fork of the Yellowstone
Remote, rugged, and rarely fished. A true backcountry freestone experience for anglers who want to earn their trout.
