Orvis-Endorsed Lodge near Yellowstone

Montana Fly Fishing Lodge is an Orvis-Endorsed fly fishing lodge about 30 miles, as the crow flies, from the northeast entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Orvis has endorsed the lodge since 2023, and in 2024 named it one of three finalists in the United States for Orvis-Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge of the Year.

The Flagship Lodge is in Absarokee, on East Rosebud Creek, in the Yellowstone River Basin. Guests fish the Yellowstone, Stillwater, Boulder, and Bighorn, plus private spring creeks. The 30 miles is straight-line distance to the northeast entrance, not a drive time. Billings Logan International Airport is the usual arrival airport, and the lodge arranges transfers from there.

Orvis runs an Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodges & Outfitters program. Endorsement is not a badge a lodge can buy. Orvis reviews guiding, accommodations, hospitality, and care of the water, and a lodge has to keep earning it. 2024 Orvis-Endorsed Lodge of the Year — Top 3 Finalist

Endorsement itself is always-on. Separately, each year Orvis names a small number of finalists for Orvis-Endorsed Fly-Fishing Lodge of the Year — an honor contested only among lodges that are already endorsed. For 2024, Montana Fly Fishing Lodge was one of exactly three national nominees, alongside South Holston River Lodge (Bristol, TN) and The White River Inn (Cotter, AR), which won that year. Being endorsed and being a Lodge of the Year finalist are two different things, and we're careful to keep them that way here: we're the endorsed lodge, and for 2024 we were a finalist — not a winner, and we don't say otherwise.
