Guided Day Trips

A full day on the water with your guide. Drift boat or wade — decided that morning, based on the river, not the itinerary.

The Day Trip Experience

A Full Day on the Water

A guided day fishing trip is the core of the Montana Fly Fishing Lodge experience. Each morning, you'll meet your guide, discuss the plan for the day, and head to the water best suited to current conditions. Whether that means floating a river by drift boat or wading a smaller stream on foot, the day is shaped around your interests and ability.

Our guides are experienced professionals who know these waters intimately. They'll handle the logistics — rigging rods, selecting flies, reading the water, preparing a streamside lunch — so you can focus entirely on the fishing. Days typically run from morning through late afternoon, with a full lunch on the river.

Day trips are available as part of a multi-day lodge package or as standalone guided days for visiting anglers. Shoulder season rates (April, late October, and November) include a 15% discount. All trips include guide service, flies, a full streamside lunch, and transportation to and from the water.

What's Included

Everything You Need on the Water

Guide & Gear

An experienced guide dedicated to your day. Drift boat or raft provided as needed. Flies, leaders, and tippet included. Loaner rods and waders available at no extra charge for guests who need them.

Streamside Lunch

A full lunch prepared and served on the river — not a sandwich in a bag. Our guides set up a proper streamside spread, giving you a chance to rest, eat well, and take in the scenery before the afternoon session.

Transportation

Shuttle to and from the river is included. Your guide handles all logistics — put-in, take-out, and river access — so you can focus on the fishing. Trips depart from the lodge or from a designated meeting point.

Day Trip Details

What's NOT included in the day trip rate?
The $750 rate does not include Montana fishing licenses, guide gratuity, rod fees for private spring creeks (DePuy's, Armstrong's, Nelson's), or alcoholic beverages. Licenses can be purchased online before your trip or at local fly shops.
Can I add activities to my fishing day?
Horseback riding can be added to any trip for $200 per person. This is a great option for a half-day on the water and a half-day in the saddle. Speak with us when booking to arrange combined itineraries.
What are the shoulder season dates?
The 15% shoulder season discount applies to trips in April, late October, and November. These months offer excellent fishing with fewer anglers on the water — often some of the most productive days of the year.
Do I need to be an experienced fly fisher?
Not at all. Our guides work with anglers of all skill levels, from first-time fly fishers to seasoned veterans. Your guide will adjust the day's plan to match your experience and goals.

"From the moment we met our guide in the morning to the last cast at dusk, every detail was handled. The streamside lunch alone was worth the trip. I've fished with outfitters across the West — this was the most complete day I've experienced."
