Our Story

Four Generations on the Water

Montana Fly Fishing Lodge is a family operation — fourth-generation Montana natives who grew up on these rivers and built something lasting from the ground up. The Powers family ranch, home to our Flagship Lodge, has been in the family since 1947, and every log, every stone was placed here with intention.

What began as a homestead on the banks of East Rosebud Creek — one of Montana's designated Wild & Scenic Rivers — has grown into two distinct lodges: the Flagship Lodge, and Spring Creek Lodge, a secluded retreat with 4.5 miles of private spring-creek water at the foot of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness.

There's no investor group and no management company. The same family that built the lodges greets you at the door, guides you on the water, and sits down with you at dinner. We keep our guest count small, our guides local, and our focus on the fishing.

If you're looking for a five-star resort, there are plenty of options. If you're looking for the real thing — real water, real people, real Montana — you've found it.

Fly into Billings (BIL), Montana — the nearest major airport. Complimentary lodge transfers carry you the rest of the way to Absarokee, in the Stillwater Valley beneath the Beartooths.

Season

May through October. Hatch and water conditions shift through the season; we'll help you pick the week that fits the fishing you're after — and reply the same day.
